The three-day event was organised by the Bharat 6G Alliance alongside India Mobile Congress 2026.
Over 75 speakers, including more than 30 international experts, participated in the event. Sessions covered 5G-Advanced foundations for 6G, global standards, spectrum and WRC-27, international trials, and AI-native networks. A key outcome was the exchange of five new MoUs with GSMA, one6G, GTI Alliance, 6G Innovation Forum Taiwan and VOICE.
Dr. Pemmasani noted that self-reliance and global collaboration go hand in hand. He stated that affordability, accessibility and coverage must be design requirements for 6G networks. The Alliance also released ten white papers and reports, including a Progress Report on 6G Joint Principles.
During the session, the Department of Telecommunications presented a curtain raiser for the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave 2026. Why it matters
The latest developments from the Bharat 6G Symposium highlight India's push to shape global telecommunications standards rather than just follow them. For the telecom sector, equipment makers, and deep-tech startups, the newly signed international partnerships and upcoming focus on intelligent networks signal emerging opportunities in research and future digital infrastructure. By emphasizing indigenous capabilities alongside global cooperation, the government aims to position domestic players at the forefront of the upcoming IMT-2030 rollout, affecting long-term technology costs and deployment strategies across the country.
